Eclipse-based blogging client

I’m always on the lookout for applications that make use of the Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform). I’m curious to see how far some people can push that framework, and whether the apps are useable or not. I already knew of Owl, the RSS reader. This one is called jBlogEditor and seems to provide a comprehensive list of features, amongst which:

  • Compatibility with Blogger, WordPress and JRoller (this should interest other IBMers, since our internal blog is based on JRoller)
  • Fetch, edit and re-publish existing posts
  • Save drafts locally
  • Code completion

I haven’t tried it yet as I don’t have Java 5 installed, and I need to be careful before installing that not to impact other IBM software I need for my day-to-day work. Here are some screenshots you can take a look at from the author’s website.
