Work on your strenghts instead of your weaknesses
Kathy Sierra says, on her blog today:
Maybe instead of working on our weaknesses, we should be enhancing and exploiting our strengths? What if the price for working on weakness (and who even decides what is and isn’t a « weakness »?) is less chance to be f’n amazing?
Go read it, and then think of how many times we feel submerged by our day-to-day workload, when we just wish we could do what we love and what we’re best at. I consider myself fortunate that in my current role, I am able to perform at a level that’s over the basic requirements, so I can actually find time to do those things that drive me – and are obviously beyond the scope of my job description: innovate, invent, discover and find ways to improve the way I do things in general.
