Kubuntu is out, Eclipse is in

With my legendary patience for things that don’t work well all the time, I’ve killed my VMware Kubuntu image to revert back to Ubuntu for something that’s a little better documented.

I still don’t like the hoops I have to go through to install JDK 1.5, but I understand there are licensing issues, although that may change when Sun finally opensources the whole thing (not holding my breath though).

Once I’m done with Ubuntu, I plan to install the latest Eclipse drop (3.1.2, I think) and the plugins for the Web Tools Platform, PHP, Subversion and OpenLaszlo. Once I get a subversion server installed on my domain name, I can then be sure that my 3 Eclipse installations (IBM Thinkpad, VMware Ubuntu image and home OS X system) will always be in sync.

Goodness!
