One week from departure to Germany

In one week (give or take an hour or two), I’ll be on a flight to Dusseldorf, to attend the annual WebSphere Technical Conference. This is a double-whammy as the Rational annual technical conference will be held at the same time. And since to me, appdev tools and websphere runtimes go hand-in-hand, it’s just great to be able to pick and choose from both.

Of course, as luck would have it, my digital camera has decided to sopt working properly, so in the shop (Canon Server Center) it goes Monday to try and find the problem. If not, I’ve already got a backup plan: the Sony DSCP200 is on special right now at $399 CAD and a 512Mb Memory Stick Pro will run me another $65 CAD. This is a great deal for a sub-compact 7.2 Megapixel camera. I’m almost hoping they can’t repair my Canon G1 3.2Mp, so I can get a new toy… hehe…

I’ve started reading a few books to see where I can go on my personal time in Germany. I fired up Google Earth, but sometimes, a book with a detailed map is just plain easier to read (and bring along in your luggage). If anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears!
