Why am I still waiting?
For the last two days, as I try to launch Visio, I get this box telling me it wants to update my installation, and of course it fails, because at IBM, we install our software from an intranet website, and everything’s pre-packaged for us (which is good and bad, depending on how you look at it), and there is no local directory containing the installation files (who’d keep those around anyways, don’t good little geeks write batch files to clean the /tmp directories and other useless files… but I digress…)
Anyway, I was thinking I’d have to reinstall, but figured I’d check our intranet site and there was the SR2 update I didn’t have yet. Maybe that’ll solve my problem…?
So off it goes with installing the 50Mb update over the wire, then the installation kicks in and the progress bar shows up. One question for Microsoft I have is if they get the concept of time. Why would you write 0 seconds left on a progress bar, instead of simply killing the window and letting me work!?!
And why did I have time to count until 6, when THIS window showed up?
