Last week-end in Germany
Well, it’s now over and I’m back on the (IBM) saddle, from home (Montreal). Once the conference was over, I had enough time left to enjoy Dusseldorf as a pure tourist. That means walking around with my behemoth (do I sound like I want a new gadget…) Canon G1 camera and taking some snapshots on the Konigs-Allee (shopping district), and taking the recommended walk along the Rhine river. Saturday was a very nice day for that, and no, the rain didn’t spoil it one bit.
I enjoyed a waffle while checking out a cross-country skiing competition (they made artificial snow) taking place near the Alstatd (Old City), listened to some folklore music while there were dozens of tents from the various competition sponsors and participating teams, selling everything from pins to ski trips. I then walked back to my hotel, going through the Hofgarten park. Very nice!
As it is, I’m already working on trying to make it to Europe for next year’s conference, just so I can let all my American colleagues attend the US conference while I back them up. I’m so generous. All this in the name of being helpful to my team, of course…
